Who Else Wants To Know How To Eliminate Your Competition With A USP

By Chris Stinson I am not talking about UPS the shipping company I am talking about positioning your product so that when people come across it they fell they need it right now. Put your prospects in a position that you have the best solution and that shopping around is a waste of their time. People are bombarded with information all day long, when they are in their car, in front of their television, or in front of their computers. What you need to do is be able to break through all of the noise they typically tune out. I want to show you how to put your unique selling position in front of more customers and have them stand up and say “I want this product right now.” When you talk about your product do you talk about how long you have been in business and that your company is reliable? Well guess what so do all the other companies in the world. You have to paint a picture in the mind of the prospect and show them how your product will make their life easier. People do not want reliability they want faster, stronger, and better. Take a look at your product and ask yourself what can my product or myself provide that nobody else can give to the prospect. When you can answer this question you set yourself apart from 98% of the marketers today. State your benefits as specifically as you can. If you product is proven to save people money than do not say this will save you a lot of money. Let them know your product will save them x amount of dollars over 5 years. When you are specific people can actually picture the results. When you are vague people have a hard time painting the picture. Make sure you are first in mind when a customer thinks about a specific solution or product. What you are offering does not have to be head and shoulders above the others. Let me give you a great example, McDonalds is probably the most well know company in the world. If McDonalds was put in a blind taste test with many of their competitors do you think they would win? I am pretty sure they would get killed but when most people think of hamburgers and fast food the first place they think about is McDonalds. McDonalds has put their brand name in front of everybody for so long and in so many different mediums that they cannot help but be the number one company in the world. And if you have kids than you know that they would rather go to Mickey Ds than the finest restaurant in town. If you have a product and you go out today and sit down with a pen and paper. Write out a list out what your USP is and use it to your advantage. Selling your product will be a lot easier because your prospect will not have heard any of what you will tell them before and you will stand out from the crowd. People are looking for solutions to their problems you just have to figure out what it is that your product provides and give it to them.
